Common Errors:


Comma Splice:

Two sentences connected with a comma.

ex: I like dogs, I hate cats. 


Verb Tense agreement: Subject and verb don't match.

ex: I runs to the store.
 
Pronoun antecedent agreement:

Pronoun doesn't match what it refers to.

ex: I like a person who is kind.  This means they are nice.

ex:  He is someone that is nice. 
 
Fragment: a piece of a sentence.
ex:  He is a person who.
 
Run on: Two or more sentences connected without punctuation.

ex:  I like dogs I hate cats. 
 
Parallelism:  Verbs in a list don't match.

Ex:  I ran home, opened the door, and eat food.

Tense Shift:  Changing time in a sentence or paragraph.

ex: Yesterday we walk to school but later rode the bus.   

Narrative Notes
True story. Start in the middle of the action. Implied message. Not about how awesome you are.  Interesting, to others!  No Kids, No death or sickness. Be professional. Paragraphs, MLA Format.
