Sample paragraph in the format.

Body Paragraph--  Successful, organized.

TS:  Successful students are very organized and they realize organization will help them reach their goals.

F:  One thing successful students do, according to Downing is “…organize their notes and study them often” (115).

O:  This means that they determine what notes are most valuable to learn and then they go over those notes again and again.

O:  Also, this means that successful students have a plan for how to be successful, and a piece of that plan is being organized.

F:  In addition, students who are interested in being organized “…chose their own goals and meet deadlines” that are important to their success (Downing 114)

O: This means that organized students make deadlines, or due dates, for themselves when they have multiple projects to complete.

O:  Further, organized students make sure to do what they have to do when they have to do it, and that is why they are able to be ahead of due dates and other deadlines.

CS:  One part of being a successful student is being organized in notes and due dates, and students who make an effort to do those things will be more successful than those who do not.

Body Paragraph-  unsuccessful, not organized.

TS:  Students who are not organized will inevitably struggle or fail because of their actions.

F:  In On Course the author writes that unsuccessful students “…repeat unproductive actions such as complaining, excusing, blaming, and wasting time” (Downing 108).

O:  Unsuccessful students find all types of ways to explain why they are unsuccessful, and when they are not organized, they blame everyone but themselves.

O:  This means that they don’t organize their work and their lives, and they act like they are victims of the world around them instead of taking charge of their own lives.

F:  Additionally, students who are unorganized and unsuccessful don’t “…make the deadline valuable enough to do what needed to be done” (Downing 104).

O:  This means that they don’t care enough about their success to be organized enough to take care of their responsibilities.

O:  Also, this shows that things other than schooling and success are more important to them.

CS:  Being unorganized leads to excuses, missing deadlines, and ultimately, a lack of success.
