TIME MANGEMENT:

No matter what we mortals do, time just keeps on ticking (108)
The secret of effective self-management is making choices, maximizing, the time you spend. (108)
Time is money (146)

SELF-MOTIVATED:

Some of the most motivated students in higher ed are those who see college as the next logical step on the path to their careers. (95-96)
Motivating goals are challenging and realistic (73)

Lack of motivation has various symptoms: students arriving late to class or being absent, assignments turned in late or not at all, work done sloppily, appointments missed, offers of support ignored, and students not participating in class discussions or activities, to name just a few (93).

The two general methods of note taking are linear and graphic.  When you take notes in linear fashion, take notes in the order they are presented.  (“Linear” means in a line) (125).

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF:

The foundation of anyone’s ability to cope suceessfully is high self esteem.  If you don’t already have it, you can always develop it (31).

They tell the truth about themselves and take action to improve what they can (16)

Successful students believe in themselves, seeing themselves as capable, loveable, and unconditionally worthy human beings. (289)

There are three things to remember about education:  the first is motivation, the second is motivation, and the third is motivation (93).

ORGAINZED:

In a college course, you need to organize information systematically so it will make sense to you (25).
